GHOST BIRD celebrates the confluence of loss and hope, through the lens of 8 endangered Australian native birds.

Exhibited at Floating Goose Studios in June 2023, the work was inspired by an album of birdsong, Songs of Disappearance, that reached #5 on the Australian Aria charts in 2020.

Some of our most threatened avian species are literally losing their voices out of loneliness, which prompts Thring to ponder whether these birds are singing songs of lament or enduring hope.

GHOST BIRD was exhibited as an installation, including ceramics, paste up and video animation.
