Based in Mumbai, I spent February in India. I worked for a week with printmaker extraordinaire Tanujaa Rane. Catching the local trains daily to Tanujaa’s studio, we rode in the segregated carriages, crowded with women of all ages and stages.

We assisted Tanujaa to proof print her large scale multi plate etchings. So interesting to observe how large steel plates are etched and printed in multiple colours. Such a privilege to spend time together, without knowing that covid was just a few weeks away for us all. Hoping India’s Covid-19 curve flattens soon, and looking forward to one day visiting Tanujaa in her studio again.
